About Zechariah
Zechariah was a Hebrew prophet and priest who lived in Jerusalem during the late sixth century BCE, following the return of Jewish exiles from Babylonian captivity. His writings, preserved in the Book of Zechariah, are among the most visually complex in the Hebrew Bible, featuring elaborate symbolic visions, angelic messengers, and apocalyptic imagery that influenced later Jewish and early Christian literature. He was a contemporary of the prophet Haggai and the governor Zerubbabel, and his recorded messages encouraged the Jewish community to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem around 520 BCE.
