Roger de Rabutin, known as the Count of Bussy, was a 17th-century French writer famous for his witty correspondence and memoirs that chronicled court life under Louis XIV. His most celebrated work, "Histoire amoureuse des Gaules," was a scandalous chronicle of love affairs among the nobility that earned him imprisonment in the Bastille.
