About Democritus

Democritus was an ancient Greek philosopher famous for proposing that all matter consists of tiny, indivisible particles called atoms. Living around 460-370 BCE, he believed these atoms moved eternally through empty space, combining to form everything in the universe. His atomic theory, though largely forgotten after his death, laid groundwork for modern chemistry and physics centuries later. He famously said "nothing exists except atoms and empty space; everything else is opinion."
